From May 3rd to 5th, Nexon Medical had the pleasure of participating as a proud sponsor of the 14th Annual EANS Young Neurosurgeons’ Meeting & Research Course, held in the breathtaking setting at the Catania Hotel, in Catania, Sicily, Italy. This premier event brought together young neurosurgeons from across Europe for an enriching experience of education, collaboration, and inspiration.

Hands-On Learning with UBE Techniques

Our contribution to the event focused on what we do best: education through experience. Nexon hosted three hands-on training stations dedicated to Unilateral Biportal Endoscopy (UBE)—a minimally invasive spine surgery technique that continues to gain momentum in the neurosurgical community.

Led by a stellar team of faculties including Dr. François Lechanoine , Dr. Xavier Santander and Dr. Felix Stengel , participants had the opportunity to:

  • Practice biportal endoscopic decompression techniques
  • Use realistic spine models provided by Upsurgeon
  • Learn under expert guidance in small, interactive groups

The workshop environment was dynamic, with young surgeons eager to explore this modern technique and understand its advantages over traditional and monoportal approaches.

An Atmosphere of Growth and Innovation

The event was more than a technical workshop—it was a celebration of growth, innovation, and the future of neurosurgery. We were deeply impressed by the level of engagement from the attendees and the thoughtful discussions around the future of spine care.

“I was so happy to share the ideas, tips and tricks with fellow residents. Unilateral biportal endoscopy is not a ‘trend’ anymore. It is a very well-established technique worthy of implementing and mastering,” said Dr. Xavier Santander.

Our Commitment to Surgical Education

Supporting this meeting aligns closely with Nexon Medical’s mission to foster surgical excellence and support the professional development of future medical leaders. We believe that hands-on training is essential for driving forward safer, more effective surgical techniques like UBE.

We would like to extend our thanks to the EANS organizing committee, the faculty, and all the participants who made this meeting a success. It’s events like this that remind us why investing in education matters.

We look forward to continuing our collaboration with the neurosurgical community across Europe—and to welcoming even more surgeons into the world of Biportal Endoscopy.
